Even though I fixed it, I'm confused. When I attempted to install Windows 2000, it would just hang at "Setup is starting up the Windows 2000 executable..." NO matter how long I let it sit there, nothing would happen. So I decided to do some trial and error. I have two hard drives, a UDMA33 6.4 gig Maxtor and an old 1.2 gig Western Digital. Well, surely enough, after I disabled the Western Digital in the BIOS, Win2K installed without a hitch. Funny thing is that Windows 2000 can see the hard drive during setup and when running even though it's disabled in the BIOS. Since I'm a glutton for punishment, I reinstalled Win98SE and it couldn't see it when disabled in BIOS. So I reinstalled Win2K with the second hard drive disabled. If I enable it in the BIOS, Win2K refuses to boot. Anyone know why? It works, thank God, but it's a very odd problem. Thanks 😉
BTW, I'm running:
AMD 550
MSI K7Pro Stepping 6 Revision C w/BIOS 1.7 B3
TNT2 Pro
SB Live! Value
Maxtor 6.4 Gig UDMA33
Western Digital 1.2 Gig
Windows 2000 w/SP1
