Originally, I had 2 hard drives. My 75gxp 30gig was primary master. My 14gxp 14gig was secondary master.
My 75gxp started to die, therefore, I ghosted it and put it on my 14gxp. Then I took out my 75gxp and put my 14gxp on primary master.
I RMA'd my 75gxp and IBM took 2 weeks to send me a new one.
I put my 14gxp onto secondary master and put my new (refurbished) 75gxp onto primary master. I FDISK'd my new 75gxp to a 20gig partition and a 10 gig partition. I set the 20gig to active.
So, I use Norton Ghost to transfer my 14gxp info to my new (refurbished) 75gxp's 20gig paritition. I boot up and something is awry.
My drive letters are all messed up. My 75gxp's 20gig partition is marked as SYSTEM as drive letter F, my 14gxp is marked as ACTIVE as drive letter C, and the 10gig parition on the 75gxp is drive letter H. Odd. So I shut down and disconnect my 14gxp from the IDE chain and reboot, thinking that this might fix things.
Wrong. Win2k refuses to boot. I figure it's because of some sort of paging file problem. I shutdown and reconnect the 14gxp. Win2k boots up w/o problems. Still, the 20gig partition is SYSTEM and the 14gxp is ACTIVE and has the paging file. I then change the page file to my H drive, which is a partition on my 75gxp. I shutdown and disconnect the 14gxp. Rebooting, Win2k refuses to boot again, getting stuck at the same screen (sometime after it says something like "loading network connections").
I get to Disk Management in the Control Panel and find that I can't make my 20gig ACTIVE. Does anyone know how I can solve this? I really would like to take my 14gxp out and still be able to boot with my 75gxp WITHOUT loss of current data. Thanks!
