windows 2000 and dvd problem?!

Hello all,

I just out together my new system and I absolutely love it (thats a different post alltogether). I just have this one big problem. Whenever I play a dvd in my drive (an afreey 10x) after hitting a coulple of buttons my computer will mysteriously restart from POST. I have tried using PowerDVD and WinDVD. Both will start to play then if I go to hit a button on their software my computer will spontaneously restart. Please! Someone help me. I'm using windows 2000, with an epox 8k7a, and a non-overclocked 1333. sp2.

Thanks
Greg

There's some convoluted error somewhere between your ASPI drivers, DirectX installation, Service Pack installations, graphic card drivers, etc, etc. It's impossible to pinpoint the error. The only reasonable solution is to do a clean reinstall with minimal software components and retry. If you get the same error, your DVD drive is faulty. If not, the problem was in the software.
