Hello All,

A friend of mine has just installed Windows 2000 Pro with a 1 GHZ Thunderbird on a Asus A7V motherboard. He has read in other places that Windows 2000 does NOT support Ata-100 drives at all... (A7V having an onboard ATA-100 controller)... Is this true? Is there any way around this? If so please point me in the right direction.

All your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I dont see why W2k would not support it. You wont see much of a diff between ata100 and 66, unless hes FTPing or file sharing... I dont think that w2k would *not* support it... but I am 100% sure.

Win2K DOES support it if your controller has win2k drivers.

I am using the highpoint ide raid on a soyo 6ba+100 board (ata 100 controller with ata 100 drives) and win2k and it works great. I did have to download the controller driver for win2k to get it to run right.

BTW - RIGHT NOW ata 100 is not ANY faster than ata 66, so don't press yourself to get to ata100 only to find out it ain't all that. ;) One day it will be faster, now it just sells hard drives.
