have a Windows 2000 Advanced Server and i use it as a fileserver/DNS Server on my LAN. The clients on my network are both Windows 2K Pro and Windows XP. There is one problem though. When i try to browse the Network through the My Places, the network seems very slow and the it takes almost one minute to find the server. This happens to all clients. Browsing is very very slow and I've already disabled the check for tasks on the server.
Does anyone knows anything to help me solve this....

Thank you...

google "force master browser Microsoft" and you should find some stuff. Slow network neighborhood (which, btw, is the most craptastic way to do anything on your network) can be caused by master browser issues. Force your 2K adv. Server to be the master browser.

Is this a domain or workgroup environment? Is the server pointed to itself for DNS? Are the clients?

yea, thats how I was browsing... It would take forever to select/access any content on the server but downloading from the server wasn't a problem though the download speed was only 4MB/s...
