Does this work under Windows 2000 SP3? This is the response I got from EA:

"Thank you for your concerns about The Sims and Expansion Packs.
The game is not supported to run on win2000"

Has anyone tried to run the game under 2k succesfully?

NO EA games are supported to run on win2k. If they work, they work, but they refuse to support win2k, because it is a business OS. Tell them you have XP and see what they say.

i had it installed under win2k and it ran fine. not sp3 tho, but i can't imagine that'd make a huge difference. if it doesn't try win98 compat mode.

Aahh... I'm glad. I've just installed Win2k on my sister's box. Would hate to go back to W98...
What about expansions?? I've to install each and every one of them (my sister's a biiiig sims fan)

What about this? Adding the switches "-skip_verify -nodx6" ? Someone told me to apply this if I didn't get it to work properly...

Ok, I0ve tried to install the game, no go. The installation will abort after a few minutes displaying an error message saying that it was unable to copy an .icd file.
I tried copying the CD to the HD... couldn't do it.

PLEASE HELP.

Received the follow messages:
1) Just purchase "TheSims" by Maxis and it works perfectly on Windows 2000 even thought
the box states "Windows NT not supported".
2) at this point i can not get through the copy portion of the setup. keep getting error 115. im sure there must be a way around this but on my machine i have not found one as of yet

Doesn't look like you can install it but it runs fine, you can try using a different OS to install than run under Win2k.

Oh well.. still no go.
I cant copy the CD to any of my 2k machines... what's wrong with it?? I've tried running the setup program in compatibility mode, but that doesn't seems to be the problem. It's the file copying that's not working.

Any help??

According to what I read you can't INSTALL it, but can RUN it if you install it from another OS. Can you try doing that?
