Question Windows 11 sound settings

I have an HP Pavilion TG01-2176z running Windows 11 Home 21H2 and a 2.1 setup (Swan M10).

It runs an HP Erica6 B550A motherboard with Realtek ALC3601-CG

Every few months or so, probably as a result of an update, Windows reconfigures the Realtek audio to quadraphonic, so I get incomplete audio, until I go back in and change it. Is there a setting/registry or something to force Windows to default that setting to stereo?
