Windows 10 won't hibernate

I am currently running 1809 Pro on this pc however, it hasn't worked on previous versions. It's been awhile but if I remember correctly I could manually put the computer in hibernation but it won't go when it times out. It is set to go into hibernation after 180 minutes but it doesn't work. Any ideas?

Thanks but I've done that. I can hibernate by choosing it from the start button, but it won't when the timeout is reached.

Check the "Advanced" Power-Management stuff, there are a whole lot of sub-options, and timeout options.

Hit Win+S, type "Power Option", click on "Edit Power Options", click on the little blue text underneath the power plan options, "Change Advanced Options", then another window should open, "Power Options", with a single tab, "Advanced Settings". Muck around in there, try not to screw anything up. (There is a "Restore your Default" button.)

Didn't hibernate. That's were the 180 minute timeout is set. I'm not sure what would affect the hibernate other than that.

A background (or foreground) process that is keeping your computer from reading idle, thus not allowing it to reach the 180 minutes for auto hibernate.

Google your active background apps and see if any have hits for errors like you are seeing. Make sure you are only running one AV. Do you have scheduled tasks that might wake it up?

I have TightVNC and OpenVPN installed on it. I wonder if either of those could be causing it.
