Windows 10 under the hood improvements

We've seen info about some of the Windows 10 features like the new start menu and virtual desktops, but I haven't seen anything written about under the hood improvements. I remember when they were making Windows 8 they talked about a new USB 3.0 stack. Has anyone heard anything like this for Windows 10 from the dev team? You'd think they would be putting in stuff like performance improvements, better support for USB 3.1, Thunderbolt, PCI-Sata and m.2 Sata.

What they should do is make a clean break with a fresh new rejigged kernel from all the old 1995 APIs in the kernel along with all the other associated trash over the years, but that would break compatibility so sadly no. Win 8 had scheduler improvements too and some security bits and pieces, likely Win 8.2 er Win 10 will too.
