I was working on my HTPC by using my Gaming PC as the 'intermediary.' I wound up restoring an image to the wrong drive - the C:\ drive of my gaming PC. It asked me if I was recycling the PC or not I chose the non-recycle option (no data wipe) when it got to 1% I got cold feet and turned it off. The Gaming PC now will not boot. Windows 10 startup repair and all that foolishness that never works isn't working.

What utility can I use to recreate my boot record and get back into my gaming PC as it was and hopefully still is?

Thanks everyone. I do have a backup. BUT this week I spent like 10 hours working on my Thrustmaster Warthog configuration and those had not yet been backed up. I'm going to spend a little more effort on getting in this hard drive.

Today I:

1) Broke my Gaming PC
2) Took way too long trying to fix my HTPC though I finally made a lot of progress
3) Spent an hour trying to get my DXRacer cylinder out of the base and the tilt mechanism to no avail need spend another $80.
4) Broke a SATA cable that just came off in my hand.
5) Rolled over a proprietary audio connection cable to my Razer Tiamat v1 with my DXRacer chair and broke it - it's apparently no longer replaceable.
6) Lost the screw holding my M2 drive in my gaming PC. Fortunately I guess it hasn't shorted anything. Yet.

Let's hope tomorrow's better ....

Chris Titus has been a Windows tech for over 20 years. He just released a video of how to repair system startups (which boot sectors are included).
