Im using a desktop pc....FWIW -
"This new policy builds on the current High-Performance policy, and it goes a step further to eliminate micro-latencies associated with fine grained power management techniques. The Ultimate Performance Power plan is selectable either by an OEM on new systems or selectable by a user. To do so, you can go to Control Panel and navigate to Power Options under Hardware and Sound (you can also “run” Powercfg.cpl). Just like other power policies in Windows, the contents of the Ultimate Performance policy can be customized," Microsoft says.
For the time being, this new power mode is not available on battery-operated systems (laptops and such), as it can consume more power than other available plans, and shorten battery life as a result. This is something that Microsoft plans to evaluate and fine tune over time.
😎
Maybe they have tweaked something for this new mode...I dont think it is just a High Performance mode with power saving disabled...That wouldnt make sense...AFAIK One can log and choose a configuration that not providing any Saving.
The General setting (Balance, High performance, etc,) is a matter of establishing the Default Saving for people that do not want to go to micro management of Power, and if needed it can be further configured.
My guess would that the New Category is just another choice for Default Config.
If Micro Latency in Power Saving is a problem for you just, set the current system to not save anything.

But are you using Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, that's where it is available.Has anyone tried this build yet? I downloaded it for that ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE mode cause i was curious to see if it really improves latency as they say but i cant find this mode...Only the usual High Performance mode is there...
Im on the latest build 17604.
