Windows 10 Pro or Home?

I'm going to need a OS for a new build and I was wondering which of these two OS I should get.

What kind of better control over updates does the Pro offer over the Home? With the Pro, can I choose to download security updates and not the features updates (as in select what I want to download within an update)? Or will I not have that flexibility and that the only difference between the Home vs Pro is that I can extend the download date? Also, do updates randomly install while I'm using my computer on Home? Or will it install when I'm shutting down?

What other advantages are there with the Pro that an average user will benefit? In terms of security, what other security features will I get with the Pro other than making files more encrypted? How about performance, any performance gains whatsoever with the Pro? ​

From what I've read, with Pro you can *defer* Windows upgrades, not security updates.

No performance gains, unless MS has done something completely different with Win10 Pro (if they had, it would have made the press in a big way). The only possibly vaguely 'performance' related benefit of a 'Pro' version of Windows historically has been that it can address more RAM (Win7 HP 64 can address 16GB max, Pro can handle 192GB RAM).

Not the only, but about the only major difference in my book, actually. I haven't tested it yet but I believe with this box checked, you will not be receiving major upgrades for some time, only the security updates. And that's a good thing in my opinion, as it will let you enjoy quite a stable system before Microsoft decides it's good enough for all kind of their "clients". In theory at least.

I Beleive that some of the Security and Update issues would be resolved in the near future when Cooperate America would finally adopt the Final None ""Beta"" version of Win 10.

No matter what your concerns as explained in your OP would be better Adressed in the Win 10 Pro version.

Personally, I highly recommend the pro version. There are just a lot more options as to what you can do in the OS..

For instance, I recently had a conflict between Windows Defender and Norton wherein the former would download signature updates from Windows update despite being disabled..

It would do this, even after using wushowhide to block the update from Windows update. Finally, I ended up going into GPedit.msc and fully disabling Windows defender..

Not a problem since then :thumbsup: If I had the home version, I'm pretty sure I would not have been able to do that..
