Windows 10 not updating to Anniversary Update

Hi Guys,

I am having trouble updating windows 10 to the anniversary update. I have used the check for updates in Windows but it says " windows is up to date". I have also used the Windows 10 assistant update and it comes up with " i am using 105603 or something like that and that the newer version is 14393. When it goes through the process of downloading the update, my computer would update but during the install and update, at around 78% my computer would restart and restore itself to the previous version of windows.

I have a legit copy of Windows 10 during the free upgrade and I have been using Windows 10 for almost a year already. Is anyone having this issue or just having issues getting the Big update and getting it to update? I bought Gears of War 4 and now I cant even play the game on my pc as windows needs me to have the Anniversary Update installed.

Thank you for your help.

I've had no issues doing the anniversary update on half a dozen systems or so. Are you having this issues on the system in your sig or a different computer?

Make sure that you have 18GB free space on the SSD/HD.

In the Update options uncheck the Update other Programs.

I would recommend that you use the windows update assistant tool to perform the update and it will preserve all of your current software and files, however it will change some of your settings back to default forcing you to adjust your settings. I've used it for all of my pc's and it worked fine on all 7 of them.

I just got the 1607 update today on my desktop. Every other computer in the house already got updated at least 2 months ago. I just let Windows Update do it's thing, even though I could have forced it.

A similar kind of error occurred for me when "in place" upgrading from Win7 to Win10 The cure involved right-click/uninstalling in Device Manager any image capture devices, then unplugging the devices. In my case, it was a USB web camera and a USB flatbed scanner.
Note: simply unplugging the USB devices was not sufficient.

sorry guys for the late update. but after a few tries of the above, i could not get it to work so I did a fresh install again with the latest windows iso. I now have the the latest build.

After seeing your update i remember seeing my ssd only had like 20 gigs left of space. I wonder if that could have been the issue. I will definitely keep this in mind
