Yeah exactly. It just isn't worth the pain to me.

I don't get it. All you gotta do is reinstall Win 8 then immediately do the upgrade to Win 10? That doesn't seem like that much work to me. And after that, you should be able to do clean installs of Win 10 directly without the Win 8 "upgrade path" as long as you don't change your hardware, right?

I mean, unless you're a gazillionaire and your time is worth mega bucks, it seems like doing the free option is a no-brainer.

But I'll never do another reinstall without changing hardware. The only reason I would do a reinstall is if I changed hardware. $199 today saves me potential future headaches.

I believe I would cross that bridge when I came to it. I don't look for the price to increase.

Even in the short term, I wasn't willing to format, install windows 8, and then upgrade to windows 10, and then format and install windows 10. I already had all my drivers and programs set up in Windows 10. I'll give you that it wouldn't be terribly time consuming since the USB 3.0 flash drive to PCIe SSD windows install takes about 3 minutes, but it's a pain to download and reinstall all the drivers, reconfigure settings in all my programs, default folders etc.
