Edit: Oh, I forgot, I downgraded this machine to Windows 7 not long ago. I have a feeling there's no Microsoft account associated with it.

OP:
I've had this problem for years. Somehow, when I first set up such an account, Microsoft assigned a domain:

<my username>@live.com

Later, I developed what I figured made more sense for me:

<my username>@<my ISP's domain>

Same "my username". My ISP's domain is sonic.net. I like that because if Microsoft sends any email to me it will show up in my inbox... duh! Problem is, I have TWO Microsoft Accounts now. I can't necessarily remember which of my devices is set to which account. I am typing on my now-old Windows 10 64bit laptop. I just received my replacement for this, another Windows 10 64bit laptop and I'm going through the setup routine. It wants me to set up my "personal Microsoft account" on the new machine. I would like to know which account my old one was set to.

I talked to Microsoft people on the phone a few years ago, hoping to somehow get rid of the duplicity and just join the accounts have email sent to me, not that dumb @live.com account but was unable to accomplish the task. Instead they linked my sonic.net email account, so presumably it would send email there. AFAIK that didn't solve my problem. Online I see this:

How do I find my Microsoft account on Windows 10?
Click on the Start button in Windows 10 and then click on the Settings command. From the Settings screen, click on the setting for Accounts. In the "Your account" pane, Microsoft offers you the option to Sign in with a Microsoft account instead. Click on the link to that option.

But I'm not seeing that. In fact I don't see "Settings" only Control Panel. And once in there I don't see "Accounts" just User Accounts. I see nothing in there about Microsoft Account.

It's a nightmare. How do I find out if I have a Microsoft account in this particular Windows 10 installation and if so, what the associated email is?

Should I associate the new machine with one of my Microsoft accounts? Why? I don't think about uploading data to MS's cloud. I do it for my Windows 10 phone, for backup purposes, in case. Just to have my apps, if nothing else. But my other computers? All data I care about is on my NAS, which is backed up off site frequently.

Well, I've gone to all my Windows 10 machines. The two tablets, I think I should throw in the trash. Can't depend on them to stay in landscape mode when sitting on my lap, WTH. Cheap crap RCA Win10 tablets, a waste of time and money.

My Windows 10 phone... It's working, it's Microsoft account is <my username>+@live.com

My 14" Windows 10 laptop is registered to the same account.

The two nasty RCA tablets are split between the two accounts, but I will probably throw them away, I'm sick of messing with them... Cheap ass parts, I have to think. They can't be depended to know which end is up.

Now, I have a mini-tower Windows 10 64bit system which is registered to the <my username>@sonic.net. So, I'm wondering if I can change that registration to the other account, the <my username>@live.com. Don't know it's convenient but at least all the devices I use would be on the same account.

You can add an alias to your Microsoft account (your @live.com address) with any email address you want.

Go to https://account.microsoft.com/profile/ > Manage How You Sign Into Microsoft

Then add your sonic.net email.

This will allow you to login into your live.com account with your sonic.net email. Whether you want to do this is up to you, would potentially simplify things a bit.
