Windows 10 automatic update GPU question.

Hi all, I would like to install the amd drivers for my GPU but I worry about the forced update that Win10 has. Will forced updates even overwrite my AMD GPU drivers even if I install my own drivers manually from the official website? I tend of always stick with "if it ain't broken don't fix it" concept. The majority of my games run just fine and I tend to keep it that way by not touching GPU drivers for a very long time, if it all. At least till I do an upgrade. Anyone here can clarify on how automatic updates work on video cards? Thanks in advance for any clarification.

I find this rather troubling, I kind of understand the need of forced security updates (even that is debatable) but why are they forcing GPU drivers? Especially how there are so many variables that can effect how a GPU driver can perform. We've all seen getting the latest GPU drivers can actually make things worse instead of better. I've heard so many times of people reverting back to older drivers for different reasons.

There's an option in Windows Update to exclude automatic updates for drivers. Then you'll only get critical security updates installed automatically. Anything not categorized as a critical update still requires manual installation.

Microsoft might update their basic drivers in a couple years, but they don't use full drivers and they most certainly do not get the latest hardware drivers of anything. Unless you run around with drivers years old, you won't need to worry about windows 10 installing new drivers.
