Windows 10 Accounts - How useful are they?

I've got a large family with limited computers. I have little knowledge of how accounts/profiles work but I'd like to be able to make profiles for each kid and and only allow access to certain programs. Is that possible?

Yes, I use parental controls for my kids computers (pretty young so I limit them a lot), it works well, they get time limits, can block sites they waste time on when they should be doing homework, block programs, etc. The only caveat is you need to force them to use edge, I am not sure if it will work with the new beta chromium based edge.
