Windows 10 14361

Just installed this one off the fast ring off insider a few hours ago.

Seems really stable so far and the transfer rates on my old main rig jumped about 20%.

In some areas at least, still looking at things.

Don't forget to clean out the Windows.old folder afterwards; the free software CCleaner includes an easy method of accomplishing that.

Just wondering if you happen to know the manual deletion method? I've never done that before...

The last time I tried the manual method of removing the "Windows.old" folder, it involved using some 3rd party programs: "Unlocker" and/or "Take Ownership", and required multiple attempts (and significantly more time) than simply using: CCleaner.

Considering Disk Cleanup will clean out this folder with a couple clicks, I don't know why you all find it necessary to find another program to do it (even ccleaner).

Thank for you the note MongGrel. I have read about some good gui improvements with this build. IMO, many are improvements that should have been made before the OS went public, but it is what it is. Hopefully this will be included in the next public build rollout.

I remember back in the Windows 9x/98 era, trying to delete an old Windows install (on another drive, etc.) inside of Windows 9x was futile, and it would hose your CURRENT OS install as well.

"Special folders" (with GUID attached), like the FONTS folder, when you went to delete the secondary install's folder, it would delete everything in the current primary OS's folder!

So, either deltree from DOS (for Win9x), or use a Linux Live distro (for WinNT-based OSes).
