WindowBlinds, performance and stabilty

I have a new tablet PC (12.1" Lenovo T7700 1.8Ghz, 4gb ram) that I will be using to take notes in school. So there is a little show off factor I want to have. I don't want it to look like just plain XP tablet. So I started looking at different themes. In the past the themes were so lame that I have not even thought about them since windows 95. However, I was surprised at how cool some of these themes are (amazing how things can change in a decade).

Apparently they use a program outside of windows to work (windowblinds). Technically windowblinds technology is integrated into XP but the windowblinds program itself (where all the dope themes are made) is an expansion on to that.

My questions are:

does windowblinds hinder performance significantly?

Does this make the system unstable at all? I read a few posts of that happening because it changes some system files over time. All of these posts were in reference to an older version.

Will this hinder performance if I am not using a blinds required theme? So when I do music production at home (which is processor intensive, crazy-style) and I switch back to an XP non-theme will Blinds still run in the background?

Any experiences or rumors appreciated,
JOe K.

No to pretty much all your questions. WindowBlinds 6 (the latest) version should not impact your system performance at all. In fact, many of our tests have shown that WindowBlinds is actually faster than the default Windows theme service.

As far as changing system files over time, I'm not sure what that is about as WindowBlinds does not hack or change your system files.

Extremetech had a review of WindowBlinds 6 which they ran performance tests, I'm sure this will be of help.
