Just finished building a new computer, installed Xp pro with no problems, however it was an old retail copy without all the service packs. I figured I'd just download service pack 2 on my old computer, burn it to a cd and install it on the new one, but when I did so, I get an error saying there's a problem with my product key.
What else can I try?

Are you certain that your copy of XP Pro is legitimate? There were a number of commonly pirated keys that were blacklisted in SP2.

It was a copy my wife brought home from school, when she was teaching, was legit at the time, (nearly 7 years ago). Maybe I could just move the old drive into the new computer???
Is there any other way? It was hard enough to talk the wife into upgrading, don't know if I could talk her into buying Vista.

Nutz, looks like my copy of Xp has the dreaded product key starting with, "FCKGW".
Does anyone think that slip streaming a bootable cd would work? Or maybe just move the whole drive over to the new computer, or a transfer of files?

SP2 won't even install with that key. You need to get a legit copy (that was never a legit key), that's the only way to solve your problem.
