Window tinting on white '07 Accord EX-L Sedan?

Hi guys

Well, I pulled the trigger on a white '07 Accord 4 cyl EX-L sedan.

Now... I want to know if anyone who knows tinting thinks that a white sedan should or shouldn't have its windows tinted. It seems to me that most colours would look great with tinted windows but I was just trying to visualize the car with tint and I was wondering about it. If so, does more or less tint work better?

Obviously I've never had windows tinted, so any advice is appreciated.

You can flame me a little if you want and tell me that obviously tinting looks good on any colour... however, that will be more than I know about it at this point.

Any tinting hints are much appreciated.

Seriously though, tint does look good on pretty much every color of car that I have seen especially a bright white with a DARK tint. Be careful with getting it too dark as it could be illegal.

Don't know about the laws in your state but IMO for the best look I'd go with 35% all around. You can definitely tell it's tinted but not too overly dark. Again check with your local laws first.

Ok, thanks guys. I'll check the local laws here. No doubt some shops will go over the line for some of these young tuner kids. 🙂

i know in NC the only thing they limit is drivers windows and windshield. drivers windows 35%, windshield none, but AFAIK everything else is blackout-legal. and you can actually put a strip on the windshield down a certain distance, depending on the height of the windshield.

I've seen this combination and it looks fine if you're into tinting. One reason I bought my Accord V6 was so I could have a car that could really hustle without attracting attention. Something that makes me look like an 18 year-old wanna-be gangster isn't something I'd ever consider doing to my own white Accord. Say what you will about whether it actually looks good, but think about the assumptions you might make about someone with tinting versus someone without. The tinter is more likely to be male, more likely to be young, more likely to be into hip-hop and acting "tough," more likely to be doing something he shouldn't or have something he shouldn't... just not a smart choice for someone who's primary objective is to move quickly without getting in trouble for it.

You actually make a great point. When I see the tuner kids in their coupes or even sedans, of course I think 'Yep, I'm getting old, because I am past the stage that I would want a car that looks like that'. But here I am talking about the whole shebang, with the ground effects and the fat muffler and the decals and the $3000 mags etc etc.

The thing is... I still kind of like the look of tint on windows, on a strictly aesthetic level! Maybe it's because I still feel like I'm about 24 even though I'm... not.

At any rate, I think I'll go for a 50% job, which by all accounts is pretty mellow and not limo-like tint.

Last point - the car actually comes with a bit of tint in the wondows so I am going to drive it for a week and look at it in the sunshine and at night and figure out whether it needs it at all.

Yea glare and heat....it's been really hot here in southern cali so I'm finally going to get some tint after 2 years of having my car. Damn black car with black interior.

Stereotype much? Just because someone's windows are tinted that makes them more likely to be a male hip hop artist whose tough? Yea...ok.

Stereotypes are a reality of society. I actually like the way the tinted windows look, too, but you have to accept the stereotypes they will come with. And if you don't think cops stereotype, you've got another thing coming.

This is like wearing your pants around your ankles and your shirt around your knees and your baseball hat at a 20 degree angle and then being all offended and surprised when people treat you like garbage. dressing like that, just like dressing your CAR like that, sends a message to society: "don't mess with me." news flash, that's not a positive message, and it will not receive a positive response. this is basic stuff. at some point, you grow up enough to realize that negative attention actually IS worse than no attention.

I guess my take on that is that tinting one's windows isn't quite the same as dressing as you described.

WRT to stereotypes... it just so happens that I don't have the same amount of melanin in my skin as people classified as 'white'. Now, I may be brown or black or yellow or olive skinned... it doesn't matter. The thing is, I am an eternal optimist and I have very rarely been discriminated against in my life.

If a cop pulled me over simply because he saw a single guy in a car with tint, 999 times out of a thousand he would be disarmed when I spoke to him in a respectful manner. I can do this because I have nothing to hide. I have never had problems with cops because of my skin color and I don't anticipate having problems because of tinted windows.

WRT 'negative attention'.... to some extent that is a relative thing. Those kids don't get negative attention among their peers, and for them, peer recognition matters more than getting hassled by cops. In fact, they probably welcome getting hassled by cops to some extent. 'Don't mess with me' might be the exact message the some people are wanting to send.

It's the suburban kids who are merely playing ghetto that wouldn't want the actual cop hassles. Inner city kids despise cops; suburban kids don't.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. My 55 year old parents both have their cars windows tinted. So does nearly everyone on their street (all 50+ year olds).

Anyway, OP, I say if you want them tinted then go for it! I think tinted windows goes great on any color car, white included.

Our windows are tinted on our white Mazda Tribute, and I think it looks really good. I'm not sure what the percentage is, because it came that way, but it's definitely not super-dark tinting. I need to have the windows of the front doors tinted. I've been meaning to do that for a while now and just haven't gotten around to it yet.
