I got this message at start up
"Windows cannot load your profile because it may be corrupted. Contact your administrator."

Window then created a temporary profile for me to log on....all my files/setting/wallpaper is just gone.

WTF happened?
 
Registry corruption probably. If this is WinXP use System Restore to go back a week before the problem occured (don't try to go back just a day - this hardly ever works due to the way Windows creates restore point data - go back a week and if that doesn't work go back a month).
