Window Maximization problem

My friend sent me one of those moving windows things and when I closed it then tried to re-open IE, my maximized window isn't maximized per se. It stretches from side to side but not from top to bottom. The window seems to have been moved down and I can't fix it. How do I make my maximized window default again?
