I am running a celeron 400, Windows 98 second edition with everything updated.

Whenever I am using windows it just freezes all of a sudden. It's one of those hard freeze where I can't press alt+ctrl+del to reset the computer. I have to manually reset them. Anyhow I downloaded a burn test program found here.. When I select test everything except the harddrive it pass with flying color. But when I select harddrive only within 2 seconds it will freeze again... What could be causing this?

I have ran disk doctor from Norton and found nothing.
I ran speed disk already as well

What else can I do to trouble shoot?

It certainly could be a bad hard drive. What kind of drive is it and how old is it?

How old is your Win98SE installation? I mean is it fresh or old? I've had a lot of these kinds of problems with Windows 98 FE/SE when I had a lot of different kinds of programs installed under it. If you keep the computer task specific (say you want to keep it professional, and don't have games installed), it seems to be pretty good, but as soon as you mix them all up, Windows 98 will start crashing.
