Window 2000 professional problem

Hi!
I have window -2000 professional. When ever i shutdown computer , it's restart instead of shuting down.
What could be the problem ? How come i solve it ?

 
in the bios you might have the power button set to restart the computer instead of turn it off. Also you might have the reset and atx power cables hooked up backwards
 
Is this a very old motherboard (3+ years) maybe?
Then it is an incorrect implementation of the ACPI layer. I have the problem here - can choose between manually turning off the computer or a reboot.
