Info Window 11 Upgrade

Upgraded 4 computers, no problems. None of them asked me to enter a product key. Used the Windows Installation Assistant to upgrade to Windows 11. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11 I also made a bootable USB installation flash drive if needed.
Ryzen 5600G, Asrock B550M Pro4, 16Gb G.Skill 3200Mhz DDR4 ram, 2.20 bios, AMD on-board graphics, 1 Crucial SATA drive, Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro

Ryzen 5600X, Asrock B550 Phantom Gaming 4, Nvidia Geforce GTX 1600, 32GB 3600Mhz Corsair DDR4 ram, 2.10 bios, 2 Crucial SATA drives, Windows 10 Pro to Windows 11 Pro

Lenovo Ideapad 720S-14IKB laptop, Intel i7-8550U, Nvidia Geforce MX150, 16GB Crucial 2400Mhz DDR4 ram, 1.12 bios, 1 Crucial SATA drive, Windows 10 Home to Windows 11 Home

After getting used to where everything is I generally like Windows 11. My only gripe is that I have to use VLC player to play most MKV files. Windows Movie/TV player still will not play them. And no I'm not going to install a codec pack.

Common commands are now replaced by icons horizontally on the top row. Ok, cool, but my Logitech wireless mouse has a hard time keeping the menus open. Did not have this problem with the old menu. The old menu can still be accessed by clicking on Show more Options, which I have to open to unzip zipped files. I also use 7-Zip. Not cool.

Option 1, step 3, To Disable "Show more options" context menu, worked for me after a restart, looks like the above pic when I right click on a file.

I don’t intend on doing the upgrade right now bit I do intend on doing it in a fee months.
I have an asrock x570 steel legend and I have not enabled the secure boot/encryption thing. Should I do that now or just wait until later?

The requirement is that secure boot is available not that it is engaged.Available usually results from the use of an UEFI bios. I would not engage it without a clear need to do so.

As I lifelong Microsoft supporter I'm very discouraged so far with Windows 11. Not that I've seen problems but with the installation garbage. I'm now 0 for 4 with my machines.

Microsoft Surface Studio 2: Not supported. I spent over $5K on this thing less than 2 years ago.

From what I can see Microsoft is begging for me to switch to Apple. Very sad. And yes, I know I can "make" the upgrade work somehow but that's not the point.

You're doing something wrong. Did you download the tool to see why it failed? It should tell you exactly what it failed on.

Surface Book 3 should absolutely work. The Ryzen 9 3950X should absolutely work. What motherboard? You probably just need to turn on TMP 2.0.

The Surface Studio 2 is on the approved list as well. The Book 1 is the only one on that list that isn't supported.

How to upgrade to Windows 11, whether your PC is supported or not

Trying my first install on an ASUS NUC. One of my 4790k PCs wont install, my main home gaming PC is an 8700k with TPM 2.0 yet I am getting not supported flags all around. Non of the PCs at my job are ready. This is going to be a nightmare for me next year.

Did you download the tool that evaluates your computer for Win 11 readiness (PC Health Check)? If so, post a screen shot of all the not supported flags. They specifically tell you why it isn't ready and why it was flagged.

Why is it going to be a nightmare year? Windows 10 is supported for many years to come and you aren't forced to upgrade to Win 11.

It will look like this and tell you what met or didn't meet the requirements.
