Do you believe Winchester could have diversified and started manufacturing the new Winchester '07 (Aka AK-47)? Maybe they would be around forever.
 
They are still around they just closed the New Haven factory. From what I've read most the rifles coming out of there were not of the best quality anyways. I'll keep my Pre 64 model 94 that I got from my Grandpa. 🙂
 
Carried a Winchester Model 70 .308 for almost 2 yrs in Vietnam...GREAT rifle. I still have my father-in-law's pre-64 Model 70 30.06. Another good rifle. Back in those days, Marlin and Winchester both built good guns. They started going to hell during the late 60's and early 70's..
