I was planning on building a new system over the next couple of months and I wanted to know what was up with the prices. The 3500+ winchester used to be around $270 (retail), now it is almost $370! The newcastle is still a semi-reasonable $274. Is there that much demand for the 90 nm processors that people are willing to pay an extra $100?

You mean xtra $280?

Don't sweat it. Get yourself a $140 3000 and make a 3500 (guarnatee it) and pocket the difference.:)

I haven't had luck making a 3000+ run at the 3500+ clock rate (2.2Ghz). I can only get around 2 GHz
