Problems

for some strange reason my ram dosent like high voltages When i first installed it refused to boost at 2.7V but after few days it now boots fine at 2.7V but then i tried to feed it 2.85 it is unstable

My pc boots at 2.7 with alittle more volts Vcore x8 over 1.550v but it still fails the 4mb Super Pi test

Ive read people hitting 2.7 on the winchester core on stock air so wtf am i doing wrong here i want to juice this system of all its worth, do i need to break in my ram more, ive tried 2t timings ive relaxed the timings ive upped the voltages on the vcore.
So Please Leave your comments and ideas, i really dont wanna go buy anything more for this pc cause im already building a 2nd pc with a 4400+

I have no idea what the stepping is cause i didnt bother to look. Can i find the stepping without removing my cpu ??

nope... you need to look at the physical heatspreader to tell

the reason why i ask is because the CBBID/LBBID don't overclock as well as the older CBBHD stepping...

so i havne't heard of a lot of cbbid/lbbid hitting 2.7

also with the value ram, are you using a divider?

im at x3 Also u seem to be a Pro at this Oc thing i just starting out what more do you think i can do to this pc

That X3 is your HT. That seems to be a good multiplier for you. Stick with that.

Your RAM divider on the other hand, is a ratio between your FSB speed and your RAM speed. Try setting it to something like 2:3 to let your CPU have its max overclock. It is probably currently set at Auto or 1:1.

thats fine for a winchester core. some people on the cbbid couldnt even get 2.3. you should be happy with what you have.

Go into DRAM Config.

I assume you are running about 9x290? So a 133 divider would be in order for that value ram..

Have you tested for fastest, and most stable memory settings yet?

Not many winchesters can do 2.7 GHz stable (especially the newer ones). My winnie (not sure of the stepping, week 44, 2004) will do 2.55 stable as a rock, but no higher... 2.5-2.6 seem to be about average for most winnies. Some peiople cannot get them over 2.3, other can go to 2.7... Just luck of the draw...

Ok, just start by saying what settings you are using now.

10 x 260 or other?

And heres your dividers.
200=1:1
166=5:6
133=4:6

All i can tell ya is my Winnie can hit the desktop at 2.7 and 2.8 but it wont run stable over 2.6 no matter what voltages i throw at it

That puts your memory around 192 or so.

I'm assuming you already put the memory at 100 to isolate just the cpu to find its limit?

yea ive triend eveyrthing eveyr 1 is suggesting but no 2.7 i wont be upgrading this rig since im buying a whole new 1 grrrrrr
