I'm trying to get the chat program built in to Windows to work on my office network (winchat.exe). I've done everything I'm supposed to do to get it to work but it never connects to the other PC's.
I made sure the messenger service was on, as well as Network DDE and Network DDE DSDM. I made sure no firewalls are blocking either PC, I am able to ping either PC from the other. When I try to dial another PC it pulls up the list of PC's and the one I'm trying to connect to does show up but when I try to connect it pauses for a minute then says "The other computer did not respond." Both PC's are on the same gateway and server, netsend works fine, we just cannot get this stupid program to work. Any ideas please?
Before anyone asks we would prefer getting this to work as opposed to installing additional chat programs or using web based programs like Windows Messenger. thanks in advance!
