I've never been a fan of the MULTIMEDIA player, Real, Quicktime, WiMP. Winamp is owned by AOL/Time Warner. AOL bought winamp years ago, so it can position itself into the media player realm. C'mon, who WON'T follow the name of winamp?! Hence the fact, winamp3 will play video and has it's own media format in the works.
Do i really need winamp3, when i don't need it to play video? Nope.
Do i really look at skins and see the 3 different modes it has? Nope.
What i do like is something minimal, small, support for multi formats (mp3, ogg, mpc, etc.) FOOBAR.
When i do have Foobar open, i like the playlist and the ability to manipulate it, so the ID3 tags play the way i like.
Once, the developer (Peter, who was paid by aol to fix winamp's problems with music output and the rest, if you don't believe me, go to the winamp forums and search for FOOBAR) seperates the core and the UI, people will be able to write their own GUI.
