Is it just me or is the winamp3 shuffle really bad? I mean I seem to get the same songs over and over again even though my playlist is 300+. I've messed with the slider, still the same. Or am I just paranoid?

winamp 2.8's shuffle is bad too

if you want randomized song, just randomized the list and play it straight through

I'll try the randomizing my playlist, maybe I'm just paranoid and think I'm getting the same songs over and over again. :(

Go to Options-->Preferences--Playlists--Shuffle Window Size

Set to 100% usage.

It is set to default at using only 33% of the songs (have no idea why).

I messed with that slide, I just thought it changes how drastically it moves up/down the playlist? But 33% means it only uses songs 1 - 33 (out of 100 song playlist)? That makes no sense to me :)

Well, maybe your are right. But when I set mine to 100% I noticed an immense change in the variation to the songs that were coming up.

Really? I like winamp3 quite a bit.

Can't live without the playlist feature anymore, and the MMD3 skin is AWESOME.

You can ramdomize the playlist and play with 100% shuffle.

I can't believe the default is set to 33%, imagine all the people out there that don't know any better listening to only 33% of their songs.

I just randomize the list and play it, that way I can see which songs are coming up next.

this reminds me of the turtle beach player i used when i first got my computer, it would "randomize" songs in the same order every time. the only way to change the order was to change the number of files in the playlist. stupid programmers not generating a random seed variable.

I'm very dissatified with Winamp3, it has phat skins but, it's slow and random is terrible! Downgraded to Winamp 2.81 a lot better and fast!

Foobar, as posted by NuclearFusi0n.

I've never been a fan of the MULTIMEDIA player, Real, Quicktime, WiMP. Winamp is owned by AOL/Time Warner. AOL bought winamp years ago, so it can position itself into the media player realm. C'mon, who WON'T follow the name of winamp?! Hence the fact, winamp3 will play video and has it's own media format in the works.

Do i really need winamp3, when i don't need it to play video? Nope.
Do i really look at skins and see the 3 different modes it has? Nope.

What i do like is something minimal, small, support for multi formats (mp3, ogg, mpc, etc.) FOOBAR.
When i do have Foobar open, i like the playlist and the ability to manipulate it, so the ID3 tags play the way i like.

Once, the developer (Peter, who was paid by aol to fix winamp's problems with music output and the rest, if you don't believe me, go to the winamp forums and search for FOOBAR) seperates the core and the UI, people will be able to write their own GUI.

Can't really go back to winamp2, I got sick of looking at that dull skin! When I finally figured out how to use my creative labs remote with winamp3 I upgraded just to use the MMD3 skin :)

Also the search feature sucks in winamp3, in 2 you could press f3, type in a string, and use arrow keys or hit enter. In 3 you have to use a mouse! booo (unless I'm doing it wrong :))

Yup! I hate the shuffle, it's like it only shuffles 25% of my playlist :|

I actually meant the search function, which is f3 in wa2 or 3. But in 2 you could search from the main window and it was excellent. Where as in 3 you have to be in the playlist window and you must use the mouse. It's not even documented as a hotkey in 3!
