Winamp3 is horrible

Such a pain to use. You can't find out the path to a song on the playlist. The interface is ugly (why don't they stick to the 'X' to close the windows instead of that weird looking button?). When you are editing the ID3v2 tag, you can't hit tab to take you to the next field to edit. When you add a playlist to the "Loaded Playlists" window it doesn't automatically highlight and allow you to edit the name of the new playlist, you have to then right click it and name it. Why the kludgy interface? I use it right now because I've been giving it a chance. I like the loaded playlists feature, but I will probably go back to Winamp 2.

Then use wimamp 5. The beta 1 was just released... I've been using it since Alpha..this newer beta is much more stable. Throw in the enhancer plugin and it sounds great!

iTunes sucks, btw. Playback quality of WA5 + Enhancer is incredible, no other mp3 player I've ever used has rivaled it, even remotely.

Confirmed.

Link for enhancer? I got WA5 beta. All the things I didn't like about WA3 are gone, but it also removed the only thing I did like about WA3. I might as well be using winamp2, makes no difference to me though. Anyways, where do I download Enhancer?

1. The interface is whatever you make it.
2. Winamp 2 is newer for a reason. Why? Because EVERYONE agrees about Winamp 3.
3. There's Foobar, and you can easily skin for both Winamp 2 and XMMS 🙂

how is the interface whatever you make it? All the gripes I listed in the original post are problems I had with the UI. You don't mean skins when you say user interface do you?

Yes. Otherwise, the interface is similar to Winamp 2, just with fewer options (and that the options windows are also skinned).
