Winamp won't play CDs, what gives?

When I go to the file menu/play/Audio CD, it brings up all the tracks in the playlist then cycles through all of them one time, it highlights one at a time and says [connecting] next to each track once, then moves to the next....what gives?

How many cd's have you tried? I know for some new cd's there's some kind of protection I think that doesn't allow Winamp to play it.

strange indeed. i also read about the new cd copywrite protection & how they won't work in some cd players. it was in this month's issue of pc magazine.

winamp is trying to download the song names and such off line....it does that for all my CD's.....but it eventually plays them.....no biggie if it doesn't, just use windows CD player....works just as well

no problem here with w2k and winamp 2.73 but I think it gets delayed if cddb can go online to get the titles.

I am running into this as well , just bought a new CD today and damn winamp wont play it! But the damn Media player will.. sigh

not sure if this is what you are talking about but here goes:
it sounds like it is because you had a different cd in there prior. it is looking for those specific tracks that were on the other cd and cant seem to find them, hence the never ending loop it does going down your playlist. just stop it and try to replay the
