Winamp Visualizations dont work on high-end systems

Hi guys, I just built a new system (see sig) and to my dismay the winamp advanced visualization studio doesnt seem to be compatible with it. All the other visuals run fine, like geise and R4, except milkdrop gives an error when it starts. On my 4 year old laptop with mobility radeon the winamp advanced visuals run fine, but slow, on my new comp which is x64 windows 2003 and GeForce 7, the advanced visualization opens with a blank window and fades colors to another blank window (when it switches between presets). I'm using nvidia WHQ drivers and have tried winamp beta 5.2 with the same results. The debug window for the visualization doesnt give me any information either. Anyone else have this problem?

Suggestions please.
 
When i start Milkdrop (v1.04) it says [ERROR] Plug-in performed illegal operation. Restart of winamp recommended (1).
I can go to the configure screen fine. Everything looks ok, until i start it.

what do milkdrop and AVS have in common that cause them to fail. the other plugins work fine
