Winamp video problems

I have a Geforce 6800, and when I try and run winamp with 'hardware video overlay' enabled, the videos lag very badly..very choppy. However when I turn it off, it runs fine.

I think this also happens with media player when I have hardware acceleration on.

Any ideas on why this is happening?
