winamp scratchy when copying files from cd

winamp all of the sudden starts to add "scratchy" sounds to the mp3s on my hard drive (only when playing, no permanent damage) whenever it is playing when i am copying stuff from my dvdrom to my hd. is it some kind of IRQ thing? it didnt do that in my last install of windows, i do not think...
