winamp problem in WIN2K

I have win2k with all the updates and winamp ver 2.77 i have 256mb RAM. When i go into winamp to make a playlist and drag songs into the playlist section, winamp just closes for some reason. Or sometimes, after I put the songs in and close the file browser winamp closes once again. And none of the things I change in the playlist ever stay changed when this happens. whats wrong?
