Hey all-

Okay, I was messing around with winamp's geforce visualization plugin, and I accidentally hit the full screen (maximize) button. Well that was fine and all, but when I minimized it again, all the icons on my desktop look like they are in 256 color now instead of 32 bit true. I have a geForce 256 SDR running the Detonator 3 drivers. Yes I went to settings to see if it had switched it from 32 bit. It had not. But I changed it to 16 and then back. And still the same. So I maximized the geforce plugin again to see if it would knock it back, no go. So I re-installed the detonator 3 drivers. Still no go. I chose a different winamp plugin (whitecap) and ran it in full screen. Still the same thing. I also refreshed my desktop. Still nothing. Everything else is working properly. For the life of me I cannot figure out what that plugin did or how to fix it. Anyone ever have this problem or have a suggestion???

Please help, this is bugging the hell out of me.

Hi

Well I had the same problem but it was when Netmeeting crashed and all icons looked like 256 color as you have described it. Confirmed it was still in 16-bit under Display in Control Panel. Haven't the faintest idea how to fix it.

But I ran Netmeeting again and then close it... That fixed everything for me.

Guess this isn't helping you but hopefully will give you some more ideas?

Only the Icons?

Go to Display Properties, Effects, then uncheck "Show icons using all possible colors". Then do it again, this time, check mark the box.

Hopefully this might reset the colors back to 32Bit.

Actually this has been going on for a week. It finally drove me nutz, so I came here for some advice. I've rebooted several times, and followed everyone's advice listed above, still nothing. I know it has something to do with that geforce plugin that started it all but I can't figure it out. I've messed with that plugin for more than an hour. I've even un-installed winamp and re-installed it again. Still the same.

This problem sure has me feeling stupid.
