Its nice to see the winamp process use 0% cpu ultilization. Music actually sounds much better outputing directly to the card through openal.

Edit: Fixed Link

Using Alchemy against the DSound plugin works just as well as far as I can tell.

I found that using alchemy with winamp would sometimes shutter or stop the sound. besides with this I dont need alchemy installed since it was the only thing I was using it for. One less program in my computer

Winamp uses more than 0% cpu?

It's using 0% on my Realtek onboard right now.

it jumps from 0% to 5 percent constantly with onboard audio in winamp (e8400 at 3.0ghz). With hw acceleration, you get a constant 0%

Odd, I've never seen this behavior. E6300 @ 2.8ghz

yup, shouldn't use more than about 1% on a modern cpu. its basically nothing when you got more than one core anyways. creative promised this long ago...bit late. on an e2200 bog standard cpu its running 0% most of the time. maybe once every 10 seconds it registers 1% for a moment. most of the time its 0%:p and thats with the little graphic equalizer going. turn that off and it'll probably almost never register more than 0%:p

acceleration not needed:p

if you have a creative card, then might as well use it. I just posted this for the people that have a creative card and want to get a little bit more out of their hardware.

It depends somewhat on the features used. CMSS-3D for headphones is moderately CPU intensive due to the HRTFs and spatializaiton technologies used. These are normally done on the X-Fi hardware without an issue, however they have to be done in software under Vista due to the UAA. On my older rig, I measured it at about 10% of a 4600+ when done in software, and of course 0% once I Alchemized Winamp.
