Winamp giving UAC prompt everytime I open an MP3 file??

I am running it as an administrator. I turned off restore file associations at start.

What else could be doing this or how do I get rid of it??

Found this:

[FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica]Hi, I was getting the UAC admin password prompt on every startup of Winamp too. Just to let you know, unchecking the box "Restore file associations at Winamp startup" stopped this from happening.

That's Options -> Preferences -> File Types. Thanks to DJ Egg for that information.

Bah, I see you've already tried this! However, there are other methods and suggestions in that thread I linked.

Good luck!

Are you sure it's not the ACLs on the MP3s themselves? Is your account (or a group you're in) defined directly on them?

Winamp tries to access the registry when it launches , does the same thing for me so I just set it to be ignored for the warning and run it in normal mode without elevated privileges. Works fine.

This just started happening last week nothinman. Before there was no problems. I think maybe a windows update patch did something, because I did not download a new version of winamp.

Modelworks, where do you set it to ignore the warning?

I have the ION usb soundcard, so the driver is a basic USB sound card.

The thing is all of this was working fine and now all of a sudden it starts.
