Winamp for Android is here!

pretty nice. noticed some weird behavior. sometimes if i use home to get out of winamp, pressing the back key will return me to winamp, from home.

Winamp's my favorite Windows player by far. I just installed this one, it's pretty ugly, the widget's too big and it doesn't seem to do anything unique or have many options. I like Cubed better, but it's is still missing some obvious things.

Installed, will try it instead of Cubed for a while. Cubed had some bugs that just aggravate me. It's shuffle mode repeats a lot, the lock screen controls don't work right, etc. Winamp seems to have the basics down at least.

I couldn't use 3 while driving. I really miss swipe to skip or repeat.

Wireless sync is definitely a cool addition! I tried it out and damn it's fast! Sent over a 3mb file in under 5 seconds, was actually completed before I even realized it. So far it's working good for me!

Sounds like exactly what I've been using Subsonic for. Well, when I'm at home anyway. Otherwise it's streaming over 3G.

You should go into UI design. You seem to be an expert.

I know the difference between good looking and shitty looking.

Open Office = shitty looking UI, so bad I know people who don't even use it because of the UI, even though the program's FREE.
Microsoft Office 2007 = Nice looking UI, and I know people who paid $300'ish for it just because they liked the UI.

In your crack at me are you trying to say one has to design UI's to be able to spot an ugly one when they see it?

As for me going into UI design, I'm currently learning how to make Android apps, but I really don't know if I can do anything useful here. Because I've yet to see a single app with a nice looking UI. And I know my skills will never be that good, if nobody else can pull it off it's doubtful, make that impossible that I'll ever be successful here.

Installed without a hitch and seems to work smoothly....
Yeah, it is a little ugly, but I don't sit and stare at my screen anyway..... Thanks!!

i still run winamp 2.95 on windows xp.

UI design is better when working in teams, as it avoids wasted time on indivitual testing and even perhaps waiting for people online to critique builds for firsthand issues in the programming phase.

hopefully winamp final will be/remain free and not come with bloatware advertising.

You said earlier that you've only downloaded three Android apps. What a wide range of experience you have in Android UI.

No I said I only have 3 apps, I downloaded about 100 to find the 3 I use. Do you understand the difference? Because there's a big ass difference between saying "I've only downloaded 3 apps on my Android phone" and "I only have 3 apps on my Android phone"

So what exactly would make this UI 'pretty'? Because apparently everything in your eyes is ugly.

winamp may not be the most revolutionary design of all time, but I wouldn't say it's ugly. I find it fairly functional and it is good looking. The widget is fine, and has what I would want from a widget. Looks like Winamp to me. I'd hardly call the desktop player 'pretty', amazed you even use it, but it's functional and the design is unoffensive.

I love the Office 2k7 interface, I also like the Final Cut Pro UI, as far as mobile apps

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pG3AchwUuk Pastebot has an almost perfect UI, beautiful and very functional. Google would be the greatest if they implemented something like Windows Blinds for Android.

This Winamp app needs a 4x1 widget, and some color options. I'm about to decompiled the APK so I can edit it, my phones theme is 90% white so the dark gray widget sticks out. Hopefully adding a 4x1 simple widget won't be hard.

No, please no Windows Blinds, but the Convertbot, Pastebot apps are excellent examples of great UI.

I think it's not so much that EVERYTHING in the Android market is ugly but the fact that there's a whole level of separation between iOS and Android apps in terms of UI. I think the only Android app that I've appreciated for its UI is Touiteur. Everything else is a joke.... like Tweetdeck? I don't understand how that's the final UI when it still looks so toned down compared to the iOS version.

But on a serious note since almost every MP3 player app sucks balls on Android, is this one worth getting?

I know many people that paid $300/person for Office 2007 and wish they could turn off Microsoft's new "ribbon" UI completely...
