Winamp File type

Winamp has taken the liberty of changing all my audio file types to "Winamp media file" types. I do not want wav files listed as winamp files. When I decompress .ape files into there source directory(which I want to do), I am not able to sort the files by file type, since winamp has over-ridden there true file type and made them winamp files.

How do I change file type back to what they should be?

Thanks.

in winamp hit ctrl+p, or use the menus to bring up the preferences. under setup, or general should be file types. the exact name of the preference will vary with your winamp version.

I guess I should have included a little more info. I have changed the file assosiation for .wav file to windows media player, I even uninstalled Winamp(temporarily), and the .wav file type still reads "Winamp media file". This is a little frustrating.
