Winamp delaying

I'm getting a long delay for Winamp to open to play an audio file. The first time it is normal, but if I double-click another song in the folder right away, it takes a good ten to fifteen seconds to open, and during that time makes the folder not respond. Once it opens things behave normally again.

WMP plays the songs without delay no problem

I've tried closing everything down including AntiVir Guard and it still does it.

Suggestions?

Might be the way you have it set to load id3 tags? Try having it load them on playlist creation. Takes a while one time, but operations are faster ever after in that playlist. Alternatively you could try a better player like foobar2k ;)

I'm not sure if this is your problem, but I had a big delay just when opening Winamp after I installed the latest version (I was using 2.something for a long time).

It was the Winamp media library causing this. I just uninstalled and reinstalled it without the library included since I didn't use it anyway, and it took care of the problem. It's back to being instant.

By default it loads them as it plays them, rather than upon playlist creation.
