Apparently there are going to be 2 versions- free and the Pro which will cost money.

JMO. Of course, it's going to be different for everybody. I don't need or want all that eyecandy, wasted CPU cycles and RAM in my eyes. My MP3 player is never the window ontop.

It seems to use more CPU resources than Winamp 3 and that version really sucks, I'll stick with version 2.81 for now. 🙁

I like Sonique better than Winamp, period. Winamp's EQ may be better if you like bassy music, I suppose.. it has adjustments that go lower in frequency. But only 10 adjustments.

However, Sonique's EQ is much more extensive, with 20 levels. Plus- and I guess this is Sonique's biggest claim to fame, it's MP3 decoding engine sounds better. I definately find this to be true. Someone from the forums told me to get Winamp3 yesterday, and I sat and listened to the same song over and over with both.. Not only does Sonique sound better to me @ default, I can make it sound even better to me by adjusting the EQ in ways that Winamp's can't.

Plus, I like Sonique's Pitch feature. I realize Winamp has plugins that do this, but they just don't seem the same to me.. Sonique's implimentation of it is flawless.

I tried Foobar.. I liked it, It was nice and clear, I couldn't really discern any difference between it and Sonique.. but the player program was a little too mundane for me, even if I never have the player window ontop.. heh.

I don't understand the point of foobar. What's so great about it? I tried it for 2 minutes but didn't really see anything worth keeping.

I like it much better than 2.xx, and I never bothered with 3. For the people that talk about CPU cycles, are you using P2400's or something? I think CPU cycles stopped mattering when we passed 1Ghz+ CPU's...

No, it's nice. There is also an enhancer plug-in floating around that makes it even better.

For lower-end systems, it still supports winamp 2.9x based skins and should run them at about the same speed as the old winamp.
