winamp 2.80 fading problems

whenever i start, pause or stop an mp3 it will either fade in or fade out rather than starting or stopping abruptly...i have checked all t he options and cannot find why this is occuring...i have no plug ins installed either...i've also checked my sound settings in winxp and don't seem to find anything that would cause htis problem...anybody know what this is all about? thanks!

Go to Preference, then Output under Plug-ins. Click on Configure for Crossfading DirectSound output, double-click "on pause/stop" and then uncheck the "enabled" then click OK

You can also turn on/off fadeout for all the other options there

Wow! I didn't even know Winamp had a fader this whole time. I was using a 3rd part plugin all this time.
