Win_2000 Cable Modem Sharing

Hi,

I was using Win_98 with Sygate and Im on a cable modem with 3 computers. Before i was just using Sygate to get my other computers out to the internet. Which worked great. I'm now running a Duel boot with Win_98SE/Win_2000. For now im only useing Win_98 to play games, but mostly for Sygate so I can get the wife and other computers out to the net. But im just testing Win_2000 to see how i like it before i go live and reformat drive again and only install Win_2000. Does Win_2000 come with something that works like Sygate so that I can use it to do the same thing as Syagte did? Or do I need to reinstall Sygate on Win_2000 again. IF win2000 has something I can configure would it be as good or better then Sygate.
If someone point me in the right direction on setting it up. You would be Da' Man

Thanks!

Buck, I just put two NICs in the machine...one for the dynamic IP addressing your cable ISP wants; the other to plug into a switch or hub for the other computers on your network. Enable Internet Connection sharing on the NIC addressing your ISP and you're set up.

Sygate 3.0 and above work in win2k. Just set it up as you would in win98se. Personally, I don't use winICS because its slower than Sygate (besides the loadup at the beginning) and I also get some weird ftp client stuff.

Internet Connection Sharing works, but the only problem that I've run into using it is security. Most websites won't allow the computer which isn't the host computer connect to their site. Some programs do the same thing such as mIRC. I had trouble DLing and ULing stuff. But the host computer still works. So if you're just using it for browsing and stuff, it'll work great for you 😉

What kind of sites are you having trouble accessing? I've been using Win 98SE's ICS for over a year and have never had any problems accessing any web or ftp site from a "client" machine.

I too have never met a site that didn't like ICS. Even ordering online.

I have a question though.. How do I host a game like Diablo or UT on the client pc (The one with the 192.168.0.2 address)?

I was having trouble accessing sites like bankboston.com and fleet.com for my account. But I believe that was before I updated my browser.
But I do know that ICS does mess up certain scripts in mIRC.
