win9x software on win2k/XP

Occassionally I see applications that say they're only compatible with win95 or 98. If I were to install these on my win2k machine would there be any problems? Aside from the utilities (antivirus, cd burners, etc) that go outside the win32 api at least. How much damage could be done? The registry is backed up on each boot and system files are protected by WFP right?

If you install a win9x program into win2k/XP and win2k/XP doesnt support it, there will just be a msg telling you so... it is very unlikely that this will corrupt your computer or preventing it from booting...

So you are quite safe...
