Win9x keeps losing drive maps

We have a very simple drive map scheme setup b/t two machines in a p2p network; Win98 and WinMe. However, frequently either machine will lose their assigned drive mappings and I have to go and set them up all over again. Is there something that I can do to make the mappings more permanant?
 
win9x does that... too much traffic, etc... can cause a disconnect, and 9x will not retry the connection.
