Turned my pc on this morning, booted into windows, ran for about 15 seconds, and got a BSOD. Rebooted, after scandisking, windows goes to a registry checker screen. It then tells me my SYS.ini file is corrupted and it is loading a backup. Now, its all wierded out, I now have my old printer in windows, but on boot, it detected my new printer. It is seeing hardware I no longer have in. Its a mess.

So your opinion, try to fix each problem as I find them, or just do a clean install of Windows?

Clean install seems best course.
Did you run SCANDISK yourself after booting to dos with CD support from the win98 CD? You might want to run CHKDSK too ( I forget which one actually fixes problems).

chkdsk is for win2k, winnt

Chkdsk went away for scandisk which works better, and is more thorough.

Try a clean install. I wouldn't bother with rebuilding that inin file.
