Win98SE: Unknown device at start up..?

Fresh install.
System boots fine but I keep getting this Unknown device window and the OS is trying to locate the drivers for it.
This happens every single time I boot up.
How do I get rid of this ? I tried the Win98 CD to try and find the drivers but that's not working out too well.
All hardware have the drivers installed correctly. Everything is working fine.
Any suggestions from the experts out there ?

Do you have a voicemodem installed? Are there any yellow or red marked items in device manager?

When the computer is looking for a file, try directing it to:

c:\windows
c:\windows\system

If you can find the name of the file(s) the computer is looking for, post them here.

Yes I do have a voice modem installed.
The problem was there before the Modem was installed.
I have a yellow warning in Device Mgr for an unknown device. However there is no indication as to what that device is .
Simply says unknown.
Any other comments ?

yeh what princessguard said...

if that doesn't work, and this isn't really a good solution -- go to that item in the device manager, double click it and check the box 'disable in this hardware profile'

I have the same problem. I think it is caused by my ATA100 controller built in to my Asus A7V. I just do what morkinva proposes; disable the device in the hardware list.

Yes I did install the chipset drivers and IDE drivers.
I am just going to disable the Device. It does not affect the system negatively.

Thanks to all who helped !!
